Suksdorfia Chapter – Washington Native Plant Society

Named for famed botanist Wilhelm Suksdorf, the Suksdorfia chapter roams the hills and trails of the Columbia River Gorge during its six to eight annual wildflower hikes, starting as soon as the grass widows peak forth. With elevations from near sea level to tree line, the area boasts a long wildflower season with a diverse range of blooms over six months.

The chapter covers six counties from the Pacific coast through the Columbia Gorge, offering wildflower hikes from March to September. Special programs may be held throughout the year, and chapter volunteers may attend community events.  The Suksdorfia chapter also provides small grants to local conservation and community organizations for projects involving native plants.

You can sign-up for the Suksdorfia chapter’s monthly electronic newsletter to keep informed about regional events like native plant sales, educational presentations, and guided hikes, as well as trip reports, news, and related topics.

We hope that you join the Suksdorfia chapter by attending a wildflower hike, a special program, or by bringing the beauty of native plants to your yard. Your membership helps make its programs, grants, and hikes possible!
