We cannot have a Wildflower Festival without celebrating the incredible pollinators that make wildflowers possible! After all, we wouldn’t have any flowers if we didn’t have birds, bees, bats, beetles, and other amazing creatures pollinating them. Did you know pollinators are also responsible for one out of every three bites of food we eat? That’s right. Fruits, veggies, honey – even chocolate – are all made possible by pollinators!

In this 2-hour workshop, educator and writer Ashley Erdely will lead kids in exploring the vital connection between wildflowers and their pollinators through scientific investigation, observation, and engaging art. Each participant will leave the class with their own Private Eye® loupe, a homemade book about pollinators, a local wildflower guide to Jewett Creek, and a new appreciation for pollination!

*If the price is limiting you from participating, please inquire about tuition assistance at meetthewildflowers@gmail.com.

Ashley Erdely is a professional educator, devoted parent, and nature enthusiast. She is currently working on the first guidebook in a new series, Meet the Wildflowers: A Young Naturalist’s Guide to the Pacific Northwest.

As an educator, she knows that learning needs to be engaging, hands-on, and give children the steering wheel in making their own discoveries. The book is written with a lead-from-behind intention, scattering bread crumbs of scientific data, and interesting facts for the reader to discover and explore.

Ashley loves spending time in the outdoors with family and friends and leading wildflower workshops for kids!
