Let’s Get to the Finish Line: Help Bring the White Salmon Valley Pool Back!
There’s something special about a community pool. It’s more than just a place to swim—it’s where kids gain life-saving water safety skills, families gather on summer afternoons, neighbors connect, and seniors find space for exercise and health. For over 80 years, the White Salmon Valley Pool was that place for us. And now, we’re closer than ever to bringing it back.

Thanks to the hard work of the White Salmon Valley Pool Metropolitan Park District board, volunteers, and community support, the dream of reopening our pool is within reach. Nearly 70% of the funding is already secured, designs are finalized, permits are approved, and the construction plan is ready to roll. But here’s the key: if we can reach 80% funding by December 31, 2025, construction can begin in 2026!
Why This Matters
- Swim Skills & Safety: Local kids have missed thousands of lessons since the old pool closed. A new pool means bringing back life-saving education and water confidence.
- Health & Activity: From lap swimming and aqua therapy to recreation and relaxation, the pool will serve all ages—teens, families, and seniors alike.
- Community Connection: The pool will be a true gathering place, welcoming around 13,000 residents across Klickitat and Skamania counties.
- Tradition & Future Growth: We’re reviving an 80+ year community tradition while planning for the future with space designed to support warm-water therapy and splash features down the road.
What’s Planned
The new facility includes an 8-lane, 25-yard outdoor pool with an extended season, changing rooms, and a check-in area. It’s designed for family swim, lap swim, lessons, and community recreation—all built to last and grow with our community.

How You Can Help
This is a project by the community, for the community—and it will take all of us to make it happen. Whether through a financial donation, volunteering your time, or contributing expertise and in-kind support, every bit of help gets us closer to diving in.
If you’re ready to be part of bringing the White Salmon Valley Pool back to life, please reach out to the White Salmon Valley Pool Metropolitan Park District to learn more about donating or volunteering. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier, and more connected community.
Let’s make 2026 the year we swim again.
