Underwood Conservation District  was established in 1940 when concerned orchardists and farmers around Underwood Mountain gathered to discuss irrigation needs, the decline of forest productivity, and the impacts that development was having on their land – increasing soil erosion and degrading water quality.

Suksdorfia Chapter – Washington Native Plant Society

Named for famed botanist Wilhelm Suksdorf, the Suksdorfia chapter roams the hills and trails of the Columbia River Gorge during its six to eight annual wildflower hikes, starting as soon as the grass widows peak forth. With elevations from near sea level to tree line, the area boasts a long wildflower season with a diverse range of blooms over six months.
