CLYZM Wine Tasting Room Opening in White Salmon

CLYZM wines started when Austin Culver first stumbled across an old overgrown vineyard in Snowden.  Austin was struck by the veracity of the vines growing at such high altitudes competing with full-grown pine trees.  He knew he had stumbled across something special.  “Growing up working a vineyard, I realized that I wanted to create a wine label that focused on showcasing wines from special vineyards throughout the Columbia Gorge and elsewhere,” explains Austin.

The CLYZM tasting room is an evolution of Austin’s drive and a way to connect Austin’s winemaking aspirations with the larger community.

The CLYZM tasting room is located in the new Hotel Iconica, opening this spring in downtown White Salmon.  The CLYZM tasting room is a fusion of modern industrial and raw natural. “We will be exploring this idea of nature coexisting with human infrastructure as well as the concept of rebirth after destruction,” explains Austin. CLYZM is a derivation of the word cataclysm, meaning the end of all things.

For people staying at Hotel Iconica, CLYZM will be the first stop in exploring the Columbia River Gorge and White Salmon.  CLYZM is looking forward to ensuring visitors and locals get off on the right foot with regard to the Columbia River Gorge experience.  “My goal is to make personable connections with visitors, and that’s what the Columbia Gorge does best – treating guests with personality and compassion. If they walk away raving about the wines, that’s a bonus,” says Austin.

CLYZM is planning for live music every weekend during the summer month. Tao Berman, owner of Hotel Iconica, and Austin both are fans of live music and are committed to bringing more live music to downtown White Salmon.
