Wild Woman Trail Runs Returns for 14th Year

America’s First All-Women’s Trail Marathon Continues to Empower Women on the Trails

The Wild Woman Trail Runs will return to the flanks of Mt. Adams on June
20–21, 2025, for a weekend of celebration, connection, and challenge in the outdoors. Now in
its 14th year, Wild Woman holds the distinction of being the first all-women’s trail
marathon in the United States, and it continues to lead the way in making trail running more
welcoming and accessible to women of all backgrounds.

What began as a small grassroots gathering has grown into a beloved summer tradition, offering
a trail marathon, half-marathon, 50K ultramarathon, and a four-leg relay that allows groups
of women to complete the marathon distance together. Set in the wild beauty of Washington’s
Gifford Pinchot National Forest, the event delivers more than just miles—it offers a powerful and
playful trail running retreat.

“This isn’t just a race—it’s a trail family reunion,” says Susan Elliott, one of the event’s new
co-directors. “Whether you’re toeing the line for your first 4.6-mile relay leg or chasing
down your first 50K, there’s a place for you here.”

Wild Woman has become a launchpad for many women’s trail journeys. The welcoming
community, beginner-friendly format, and scenic location have made it the first race experience
for hundreds of runners—some of whom return years later to take on their first ultramarathon.

Highlights of this year’s event include:

  • A Friday Night Speaker Panel featuring Cocodona 250 course record holder Rachel
Entrekin and local ultrarunning champion Sarah Allaben
  • Free, on-site camping for registered attendees and families with Mt. Adams views
  • Post-race yoga and glacial cold soak tubs and pizza lunch
  • Legendary community potluck dinner featuring seasonal bounty from the Northwest
  • Family-friendly atmosphere and free entry for girls under 18
  • A full range of distances—from relay to ultra—designed to be approachable and
    uplifting
