Taking place over the weekend of October 18th, the Fall Art Walk 2019 explores the ways in which art connects us as a community. The Fall Art Walk makes art accessible to all viewers with window displays, free events and participatory projects. Included in the festivities will be the work of 400+ White Salmon public school students. In a gallery-style walk along Jewett and Main, this work will be displayed in windows both inside and out.

Opening Artist Receptions ~ FRIDAY ~ 6-8pm at these locations:
M.E. Jewelry Co., Le Doubblé Troubblé Wine Co., North Shore Cafe, The Hatchery Studios, Tea Lyn’s Tea Shop & Blackbird & Ivory

Saturday Community Connection:

  • Kristine Pollard @MEJco with Macrame collab
  • Cyndi Strid @ Pioneer with Red chair project
  • Pioneer Pizza $10 Pizza Party & Box Decoration Contest!
  • Molly Holmlund @ Westward/Hennis with Community Art Project

The White Salmon Arts Council members worked closely with teachers, asking students to respond to a simple prompt, “what do you love about your community?”. Council members visited classrooms and inspired students to respond in personal ways to the culture, landscape and people that make up this special place. Local establishments generously donated their storefront windows to display the work of our youngest artists in a way that celebrates this budding creativity.

In addition to the Children’s Gallery Walk, professional artists from our community will have their work displayed in local establishments along Jewett, Main and Estes. Many of these display locations will have small opening events on Friday evening October 18. Check out the White Salmon Arts Council Facebook page or posters around town for a list of artists and locations.

On Saturday, October 19th between 10:00 and 4:00 our town will be alive with engaging activities including a pizza box painting contest, the chance to work on a giant macramé creation with artist Kristine Pollard or the opportunity to reflect on our connection to others by joining artist Cyndi Strid in her compelling “Red Chair Project”.

Everything is happening up and down our main street as well as Estes and Main. “Bring the whole family – take in the Children’s Gallery Walk; check out the amazing work of some of our talented local artists; engage in an interactive activity; enjoy a meal or a slice or a festive beverage and come help celebrate all the ways in which Art Connects Community,” says White Salmon Arts Council board member Chelsea Heffner.

The White Salmon Arts Council is a 501(c)(3) organization focused on building community through art-focused events and creative educational opportunities. We are supported by our members and partnership with the local business community.

Let’s keep White Salmon Creative!
