Snowshoe Near White Salmon
Are you choosing White Salmon WA for your winter adventuring that includes snowshoeing or cross country skiing? If so, here is a quick guide for places to snow shoe near White Salmon.
There are three sno-parks 30 minutes away up by Trout Lake: SnowKing, Pineside, and Atkisson (ice caves). You can snow shoe at all of these as well as cross county ski.
Call the ranger station in Trout Lake first before you head up, and you can stop by there on your way out to pick up maps. You will need a WA Sno-Park permit ($20/day, $40/season) which is available at the Trout Lake Store. You can also purchase a permit at the Trout Lake Ranger station or the Mt Adams Chamber of Commerce/Visitor Information Center. The ranger station is closed on Sundays.

Find the Mt. Adams Chamber of Commerce just west of the north end of the Hood River Bridge and near the entrance to Dock Grade Rd which takes you to downtown White Salmon.

There are also hiking trails right from White Salmon. So if it’s a big snow year, you could snow shoe right from town.
Snow Shoe Near White Salmon Maps and Trail
Start your morning at the North Shore Cafe or the White Salmon Baking Co. and then head up to Mt Adams! Here are a couple of suggested routes for your cross country ski or snowshoe adventure.
- Big Tree Loop a 5 mile trek, go clockwise on the groomed trail out of Pineside Sno-Park
- Lava Loop is 5 mile trek, go counter-clockwise on the groomed trail out of Snow King Sno-Park
- Ice Caves/Natural Bridges is 8+ miles out and back on a ski/snowshoe-packed trail from Atkisson Sno-Park
