Meet Kayla of Wayward Wines
Meet Kayla Marean, owner of Wayward Wine, an online wine shop/wine club. Kayla, who recently finished the WSET 111 program, launched Wayward Wine in late 2021. Kayla intends to make wine fun and less intimidating for young people learning to discover and appreciate wine within their budget. “If I can help other young people discover wine, and why it doesn’t need to be something that only your parents drink, or how to find one that they enjoy that is in their budget, then I will be filling a niche that needs filling,” says Kayla.
Kayla offers free consultations to her customers as well as Virtual Classes. Her wine club focuses primarily on Washington and Oregon wines, and she plans to expand as her business grows. You can choose 3/6/12 bottle shipments, which you will receive 3X/year, and she does local deliveries with a three-bottle minimum purchase.
My goal is to make wine fun. After years of working in the industry I saw there was a lack of diversity and age ranges interested in wine. It needs to become more approachable and inclusive. I started Wayward Wine to be a part of that change. My wine club focuses on value-priced wines from all over the world to show members how diverse (and accessible) wine can be. My wine classes, Wine 101 and Tasting 101, are designed to create a fun and comfortable atmosphere to practice tasting, ask questions and empower consumers to explore the amazing world of wine.
