About Cor Cellars
Born in Manhattan and raised in the wilds of Pennsylvania and Utah, Luke decided to move west for college at Evergreen State in Olympia, WA. While studying sustainable agriculture, Hemingway, and the ski touring and whitewater of Washington, he developed an interest in wine on a climbing trip to northern Italy. Guided by a desire to integrate his love for agriculture, history and art, he committed to a life of winemaking.
After working harvests for Tenuta di Trinoro in the Val D’Orcia in Tuscany, and Passopisciaro on Mt Etna in Sicily from 2000-2002, Luke returned to Washington, and went to work for Wind River Cellars and then Syncline Wine Cellars in the Columbia River Gorge.
Seeing the enormous potential in Washington fruit, Luke embarked on his own in 2004 and launched COR by planting a small vineyard in Lyle to Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc whilst setting up contracts to buy grapes from various sites in the Horse Heaven Hills, Yakima Valley and Columbia Gorge AVA’s.
With a focus on whites from the Columbia Gorge and reds from the Horse Heaven Hills and eastern Gorge, COR now produces 10 wines, all of which play an integral role in COR’s translation of the Northwest’s wine story.
In 2011, on a rainy spring day in Seattle, Luke met Meg Gilbert, and the magical energy of a chance encounter changed both of their lives forever. They fell in love, moved in together in Lyle, and the rest is COR history. Luke and Meg combined forces and now share all the responsibilities of COR and raising their daughter Liv, who was born in 2015.
