Jesse Brackenbury is known around White Salmon for his iconic photographs of White Salmon and the Columbia River Gorge. Jesse is inspired by natural beauty, amazing landscapes, and the eye-dropping views surrounding White Salmon. “Photography is a way to display my passion for the beauty I get to enjoy and surround myself with,” explained Jesse.
Jesse is originally from Portland, Oregon. After a few years in the Air Force, Jesse moved back to the Pacific Northwest and started working for Insitu. “It was living out here that I found a passion that I cared so much about,” said Jesse. Jesse has always had an eye for beautiful scenes and started by capturing these moments with his phone, posting, and receiving more and more attention along the way.
In January 2017, Jesse decided to invest in a camera and a tripod while diving deeper into learning the art of photography. Jesse began to see his art evolve through self-taught methods, along with practice and help from peers. “Sometimes that means staying up all night for that perfect Milky Way shot or braving through the snow and freezing temperatures to get that crisp sunrise we all enjoy seeing,” admitted Jesse.
Jesse is happy to call the Pacific Northwest home and to travel around sharing the Pacific Northwest scenes with those who don’t always get to enjoy the views with their own eyes. “My goal is to inspire people to do more, live more, and live happily,” remarked Jesse.
