Have you ever really looked at the trees in White Salmon, our our urban forest? Can you ID at least 10 different tree species?
This May, during the White Salmon Wildflower Festival, you’re invited to a guided Tree Walk around downtown White Salmon with ISA Certified Arborist and City of White Salmon Tree Board member Karen Black Jenkins. This is more than a walk around town, it’s a discovery of big, old trees in White Salmon and a discussion of how our community can maintain and grow the urban forest.
A Walk Through our Urban Forest
Meander through residential streets to learn about different trees species and their characteristics and how we benefit from their features.
- Learn to ID trees by the bark, structure & foliage
- Discuss “the right tree in the right place”
- Learn how the City of White Salmon is promoting tree preservation
Expect a casual stroll of 60-90 minutes around downtown White Salmon, ending at the Spoke Bike Park or Gaddis Park, where the terrain is a little uneven.

See the Urban Forest for the Trees
By the end of this walk, you won’t just see the trees, you’ll have a better understanding of the urban forest.
Whether you’re a curious local or a visiting wildflower enthusiast, this is a rare opportunity to connect more deeply with the landscape that defines our region.
