Craving to Get Out on the River? April 1st!

Wet Planet Whitewater can’t wait to get on the river!  The desire to spend lots of time outside and on the river is stronger than ever before. Guides, staff, and guests are all looking forward to exploring new places, trying out new rivers, and spending days rafting and kayaking the amazing rivers of Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. Wet Planet’s opening date for the season on April 1st can’t come soon enough!

Washington Current Snow Pack

This winter’s snowpack is stacking up nicely so far. While not huge, its layers are promising for a good season on the river for rafting and kayaking here in the Pacific Northwest. The current snow level for the White Salmon River is around 88%. The snowpack is just below average, but the snowiest part of winter is yet to come. Since Wet Planet was closed last spring due to COVID, we are especially looking forward to the spring rafting trips this year on the Class V Wind River, the remote Klickitat River, and the stunning Owyhee River in Eastern Oregon in May.

Summer Treat for Kids in Need of Outside Time

Bursting with energy and joy, lots of kids ages 9-13 had their first kayaking experience last summer at Wet Planet. All 4-day camps booked full, spread over 5 weeks to keep the group sizes small. We were also excited to pilot a successful Level 2 camp for kids ages 10-13 who had participated in a previous kayak camp and were ready to take it to the next level. The Kids Kayak Camps are ideal for introducing your child to whitewater kayaking through fun and play, while also learning the basics of hydrology and an appreciation of the natural beauty of the river. Get your kids involved in a community that will stay with them for a lifetime.

Annual Rowing and Paddle Guide School

Do you want to learn the skills to confidently and safely take your friends and family out on a river rafting trip? taught by our most experienced guides, guide school is a stellar opportunity to learn how to paddle guide and row whitewater. You will spend 2 weekends paddle guiding on rivers around the Gorge, followed by a 4-day overnight trip on the Owyhee River, where the focus will shift to rigging, rowing and running a multi-day rafting trip. Giani Benevento, raft guide extraordinaire, has been teaching our annual Guide School for more than a decade, and he can’t wait to share his experience again in 2021. Come enjoy a few stories by the campfire and learn from the best!
